Dermatoscopy (epiluminescence microscopy)is a non-invasive examination of skin lesions (pigmented moles) with dermatoscope, a special optical device , magnifying the image 10-70x. Due to lateral illumination it allows to get a three-dimensional image of the skin. Dermatoscopy’s purpose is to evaluate whether the examined structure is a pigmented change (melanocytes), and if so, whether it is benign, suspicious or malignant. Dermatoscopy examinations constitute a very important element of prophylactic activities. Computer dermatoscopy is based on the evaluation of the skin lesions at high magnification up to 70x, using software analysis and archiving examined images. Dermatoscopy device consists of the following elements: halogen lightning (provides an exact reflection of skin tissues), seamless lightning with longer working time, advanced optical system with a magnification of 10x (it allows a precise identification of examined lesions), lens with scale (which enable the measurement of skin lesions with an accuracy of 0.5 mm), the focus adjusted by rotating regulator.

The treatment does not require any special preparation.

Based on the examination results, further proceeding is set – surgery treatment and histopathological examination or CO2 laser treatment.
